I've decided that the reason Africans win marathons is because their training program consists of the threat of being eaten by lions and trampled by Elephants. I'd run like @%#$ too if a hungry lion were chasing me!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run Susan G Komen 3 day, 60 mile race for the cure
Qualify for & Run in Boston Marathon

Personal:

In October '09 I weighed 248 lbs, and slept 16 hours a day.  I was miserable.  I decided to change that.  So far I've lost nearly 80 lbs, and started running.  It's been my dream, ever since I was a fat little kid, to run in the Boston Marathon... because I was born there.  Now I'm on a journey to the road home.

Married since 2001, had beautiful baby girl in July 08.

got to 3.5 mi at the hour mark and figured "meh, it's only 3 more laps".  So I did 4 miles.

 

Also I invented Murple.

8T mascarpone
8 oz greek yogurt (I used Greek Gods Artemis. It's currently competing with my beloved Fage total for supremacy)
1/2c blackberries
1/2c raspberries
raw vanilla (optional)

Pretty straight forward. Mix it all together. Eat it. I call it murple cuz it's mascarpone that turns purple.
And, yes, it's definitely my entire week's worth of fruit and probably 2 weeks worth of dairy rolled into one, but *pats tummy with contented sigh* WORTH EVERY BITE!

ran to riverwoods.  It's not fair how good it already smells at 8 in the morning and none of the restaurants are open!  However, I learned that I don't like to eat when I run.  It's not that I can't chew it run, it's that my favorite foods taste gnarly.  I brought a mini larabar for half way point and it just tasted like sweet, chewy funk.

First run back from surgery.  Felt great, but didn't want to do too much too soon.  Saving myself for Saturday's 11 miler.

Stitches out tomorrow.  \o/ yay!

Pathetic 45 min 2 mi run.  Depressing.  It shouldn't be that, cuz I was rattling off 6-8 min half miles.  I'd walk 1/2 mi, then run 1/2 mi.  Makes no sense, and I have no excuses or explanations for it.
