I've decided that the reason Africans win marathons is because their training program consists of the threat of being eaten by lions and trampled by Elephants. I'd run like @%#$ too if a hungry lion were chasing me!

Run Susan G Komen 3 day, 60 mile race for the cure
Qualify for & Run in Boston Marathon

Personal:

In October '09 I weighed 248 lbs, and slept 16 hours a day.  I was miserable.  I decided to change that.  So far I've lost nearly 80 lbs, and started running.  It's been my dream, ever since I was a fat little kid, to run in the Boston Marathon... because I was born there.  Now I'm on a journey to the road home.

Married since 2001, had beautiful baby girl in July 08.

Made it safely to NY.  DD was an angel for both of our flights here.  She seemed fascinated with the whole process.  Can't believe I woke up at 5:30 am EST for a workout.  Just opened my eyes, saw it was 5:30, thought I should probably go workout before Ma & baby get up, and went.  It's only 3:30 am back home in Utah.  It's 8 AM here, now.  Waiting for Ma & DD to get up so we can go see family & get food.  I'M STARVING!

Couldn't remember the last time I was on a TM, so I just did an easy 4 miles.  My feet fell asleep the last 15 mins or so, so that kinda sucked.  Will rinse & repeat tomorrow so I can do an easy 2 miles Saturday morning.  

Ma is convinced I'm starving myself.  She was trying to get me to eat yesterday.  I told her I had eaten already, she just didn't see me.  Really, it doesn't take that long  to chow down on a kashi or larabar!  Ma is convinced she'd be starving on my diet.  I told her she'd probably be okay.

dinner last night wasn't as bad as anticipated, except for the indigestion that followed.  Stayed within my calories, but the sodium was awful.  Had enough calories afterwards for ice cream :)

Got up at 6 am EST to get my work out in.  Worked at a slow jog for 5 min intervals.  stayed at 4 mph for the majority of the workout.  Not sure if I'll do 9 miles this week or 10.  Whatever 75% of last week's mileage is.

I think Ma & I are fending for ourselves tonight, so I'll be able to have more control over what I eat.  She's honestly convinced I'm starving myself because I only eat what my body needs. 

Excited to see cousins after breakfast today.  Almost everyone is showing up today for tomorrow's wedding.

Was up at 5:45 EST.  Decided I should probably get to fitness room since I wanted to make sure my mom was up at 8, in time to start helping with the wedding.  Did 2.59 miles on TM, then did weights.  Hurt my shoulder doing them the other day (not injured, it's just grumpy at me if I move wrong), so today I put them down to 20 lbs and did minimum reps.  About half way through that, I felt that I could do some more running.  Got back on TM and finished out a good mile in just under 14 mins (which is fast for me).

Ma said we might go to lunch with one of my cousins (who I'm waiting for to call me so we can hook up), and that dinner tonight at the wedding is buffet.  HOORAY!  I'll actually have control over what I eat tonight.  

Must thank Aunt Kathleen again for her wonderful rigatoni & home made meat sauce last night.  Good energy for this morning's workout :)
